Omaha World-Herald sports columnist Tom Shatel writes in his online question-and-answer blog that he does not feel restrained by University of Nebraska-Lincoln officials when it comes to writing critically about Husker athletics.
"The editors and management at the World-Herald have left me alone for 15 years (and maybe at times they have regretted it! Hah!)," he writes. "Bob Devaney and Tom Osborne always told me: 'We understand you're going to be critical, just get our side of the story.'
"Heck, that's Journalism 101. I couldn't ask for a better situation."

Yeah right. I'm sure he doesn't have any worries about pissing off the powers that be in Lincoln.
Of course there is no pressure from the University. They wouldnt be petty and pull a press pass or use their power to put the hurt on someone critical. They didnt have any problem with Kevin Kugler and him doing play by play. Oh wait, bad example.
Why on earth would NU WANT to censor Shatel? Nobody is a bigger homer than Shatel is. Remember the "Solich needs to stay" followed a day later by, "Oops..I meant he has to go".
I have no problem rooting on the local team, but Shatel's constant slobber over all things Husker is extremely annoying. He'll write what Husker fans want to hear...which is to hear how great they are.
It's a never ending, nausiating cycle.
