(Not) The Home of the Huskers

LionelKFAB (1110 AM) may tout itself as the "Home of the Huskers." But Saturday, when the Nebraska volleyball team's hopes of making the Final Four were on the ropes, KFAB listeners heard the syndicated program, "The Lionel Show," instead of the Huskers' thrilling comeback against Minnesota.

KFAB did carry the Nebraska men's basketball game at Oregon Saturday afternoon. But when that broadcast ended, KFAB chose to return to its standard programming rather than air the Husker Sports Network' broadcast of the Huskers' regional final. Saavy listeners in Omaha tuned in to Lincoln's KBBK (107.3) to hear the Huskers' comeback, which advances them to the Final Four in Omaha.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think a deal was made a couple of years ago that B107.3 would be the official volleyball broadcast station on Omaha/Lincoln for the regular season.

I do think KFAB carried the final 4 last year if I'm correct and possible could do so this year.

The only radio that can pick up 107.3 is my car radio. Was no fun sitting in the car for two hours listening to a great come back. KFAB was a disappointment. The game was listed in the Omaha World-Herald for KFAB programming.

We are going to carry Nebraska's games in the final four.

Don't be mad at us because the World Herald got it wrong.

Let's see

"Don't get mad at us ...." What because the World Herald thought you would be smart enought and savvy enough to carry the game.

What a joke. These are the regional finals and they choose not to carry them. Then they jump on the bandwagon this weekend. The University & or Pinnacle (or whatever the rights holder is called now) really needs to put their foot down and require at least the postseason volleyball be covered - ETV must assume there is an audience for it. Apparently they think the incredible "Lionel Show" is a bigger ratings coup. Of course when you have one of their fearless leader posting the brilliant comment above what can the fans expect. Unbelievable.

It's just a volleyball game. You make it out to be some huge deal...like a baseball game against Manhattan or something.

Sheesh.

It's not football, it's not baseball, but volleyball is growing in popularity, and Nebraska volleyball is a dynasty and should be a source of great pride for the state. KFAB chooses not to carry volleyball, I choose not to listen to KFAB programming. Adam Smith's invisible hand at work.

I too am upset, for the station not carrying last weekend's Regional Ping Pong Championships.

Yes, they should have carried the Regional Ping Pong Championships after broadcasting all the regular season games. What's up KFAB?
