Jacim Bids KPTM Viewers Goodbye

Tracy JacimTracy Jacim's two-year stint as news anchor at KPTM (Cox Channel 10) came to a close Friday night.

"I'm really choked up, which, as you know, I'm never really this speechless," Jacim said after watching a video tribute to her near the conclusion of the 9 p.m. newscast.

Jacim thanked crew members working behind the scenes for their hard work, as well as her fellow on-air colleagues.

"We couldn't do it without all of you," she said.

In early February, Jacim announced she was leaving the station. Her replacement will be weekend anchor Amanda Mueller, who starts co-anchoring with Taylor Wilson on Monday.

In her final comments before saying goodbye, Jacim said Taylor "upped her game" as her co-anchor.

"You've become my other half here on the desk," she said. "When you sit next to someone this long every single night, you really do build a relationship and rapport that's irreplaceable."

    Dear Tracy,

In the hope that you read blogs, my husband and I would like to wish you all the best. We became regular viewers soon after your arrival at Fox 42 and will miss you very much. In some ways you have become our "friend" and it feels like we've lost someone very close to us. Wherever it is you end up going, I hope you always think of Omaha as your second home.

I still don't get it? Why would KPTM allow Tracy Jacim (arguably the best anchor in Omaha) out of her contract?

    How stupid is that place?!?

where ever that harpy lands you know destruction, tension and poor morale are sure to follow. To all you posters above that seem to think she was a 'freind' or a 'class act' or the like, you obviosly didn't have the pleasure of working with her or her tool of a husband. Cheers Amanda - you should have got the position 2 years ago.

I didn't understand why she was there that long, actually. KPTM is "ghetto" television. When you hear coughing in the background during the newscasts, microphones that either aren't on, or don't work properly (making the anchor sound like they are on a Mexican Radio Station....siempre noche...noche...noche...noche...) or the sports guy busting out a nice swear during the newscast, it makes me wonder why she didn't leave sooner. I would have.

Is it me or does that newscast fall flat without Jacim? I watched just to see how Mueller would do and it's like stepping back to the ice-age. I'll wait for the thaw before wasting another hour of my time.

I just got back from vacation to find out that Tracy Jacim had left. Where'd she go? I'm going to miss that smile and everything else that made her a class act.

    Good luck, Tracy!!
