The question being posed on Omaha sports talk shows this afternoon was why no one asked Nebraska football Coach Bill Callahan about running back Marlon Lucky's status during today's pre-spring practice press conference.Lucky was hospitalized in mid-February after police were called to his apartment at 11:30 p.m. The 20-year-old was admitted to BryanLGH West hospital for "undisclosed medical reasons," according to the Nebraska Athletic Department. The department has since offered no further comment on the incident.
Matt Perrault, host of "The Big Show" on KXSP (590 AM) did not attend the press conference and neither did Kevin Kugler, co-host of "Unsportsmanlike Conduct" with Mike'l Severe on KOZN (1620 AM).
One caller wondered when the Nebraska media "are going to take off their skirts and start asking the tough questions."

Perhaps it is because both the Journal Star and World-Herald reported last week that he was the only returning running back ready to practice this spring. This all happened last week. So we already know that he is ready to return to practice and people should no the University isn't going to comment any further on the medical incident.
The Omaha media doesn't DARE question the NU athletic department on anything for fear of losing their only worthwhile credential. Without Husker football games to attend with a press pass, what are they left with?
Joe Jordan may have been a freak when he asked Callahan if he would fire himself..but at least he had the guts to stand up to the establishment.
The Day Travis Justice or Kevin Kuglar stand up and ask that question is the day before they announce they are leaving town for something bigger.

Why ask a dumb question that you know the obvious answer to. Coach Callahan or nobody is going to say anything about the situaiton. Matt P is an idiot and when you compare his show vs. Kugler's it's like a one seed facing a 16 seed. 590 has no chance of beating 1620 in that time slot...none.

Interesting. Seeing as I'd rather wipe with the OWH than read it, I didn't see that statement. Guess there are others who didn't see it either and would liked to have heard a response from Beau Bridges lite.
That said, Matt is being paid to host a show - not attend news conferences and certainly not to attend the 1st round of the NCAA basketball tourney. Didn't you hear? He paid for his own way to the tourney last week - BS590 didn't pick up the tab....

I listen to Matt every day and think he's doing a fine job. We need more like him in this area to tell it like it is. I know that this sticks in the craw of every Nebraska fan, but the entire world is not painted scarlet and cream.

The people can't stand the fact that someone comes from out-of-town and doesn't kiss the fat butt of Nebraska football. As much as there are people who bitch about 590 there are plenty of people from outside Omaha who listen. Remember, 590 is still about two years old.

Did any of you ever stop to think that perhaps some of us out here just say off the wall things to get your dander stirred up? And then we just sit back and laugh at you as this thing takes on a life of its own. Bwa ha ha ha ha ha ha!
Matt does have a following and it is building. Hopefully the powers at Journal will give him a bit more time. This guy is a professional and given time will grow into a juggernaut. Thanks Matt for not kissing the red butt of Nebraska football. It's about time we had some objectivity in this state.

Maybe the reason that some people criticize the show is that they simply don't like it. Maybe it has nothing to do with whether the host likes/dislikes/is ambivilent to a particular team.
And maybe the reason some people make smart-ass comments on here is just to have fun, not to make any grand statement.
At least he (Perrault) doesn't kiss Big Red Butt. Man, the people in this state need to get a clue. Thank God I'm leaving this garbage behind me soon.
