Tom Elser Leaving KETV

Tom Elser MugKETV (Cox Channel 9) reporter Tom Elser is leaving the station to become a consultant for the Steier Group, national development consulting firm with an office in Omaha.

Elser has worked at the ABC affiliate since 1997. Prior to that, he was a general assignment reporter for KMTV (Cox Channel 5). He started in KETV's promotion department, then moved to the news department about a year later, advancing from working in KETV's Southwest Iowa bureau to nightside reporter.

Elser said looking back, his favorite stories were the ones where he helped make a difference.

"I remember a piece we did on orphans who live in the Ukraine (in late 2005)," Elser said. "Our story helped lead to an adoption."

His last day at KETV is May 24.

Did you ever heard him say the word "hundred?"

Hun-drarh. I'm not kidding. That may sound nit-picky, but I giggled everytime he would say it.

Anonymous, you ignorant slut! You said "guess we need to hire more people you can hardly speak english." WTF! Drinking your breakfast these days? THEN you said "KETV has lost several great reporters." They are not lost! We know where to find them, so they are found! They have been here all the time. Besides, KETV and "great reporters" is oxymoronic.

Now if they could only lose Farah....at least with Tom at the live updates on the 10:00 pm news, he could compose his thoughts and actually deliver an update without saying "uh" 25 times and fumbling over every 10th word.

interesting how everyone wants to pick on tom for one word here or there. does any one ever notice that julie and rob do make mistakes too...boy even barbara walters makes mistakes. how about the complainers take the reports places for a night. then we well see how much better they do.
