KXSP 'Big Sports' Forum Offline

Big Sports 590 logo, courtesy of bigsports590.comThe much-maligned forum on the KXSP (590 AM) "Big Sports 590" website is no longer online.

Instead, a message tells site visitors the web space is "under construction."

The forum, which featured sections such as the "Big Sports Big Forum," "The Big Show w/Matt Perrault" and "The Travis Justice Show," seemed to be visited by spammers as often as the station's listeners.

Some sample threads before the plug was pulled: "Hey sweetie, hope you're well," "Come get some kinky lovin" and "Any useful ideas?"

You're welcome. :D

Gone but not forever....we'll put it back up soon. Need to find a better way of keeping spammers from posting on there.

Now if Baggy Shorts 590 would only pull its local on-air talent in favor of more intelligent fare...like a rabid goose with a cold and any cut from the Paris Hilton CD...

The folks at 590 keep claiming that their ratings are up and the big show is beating unsportsman like conduct? Is this true media guy?

You mean, there might actually be an admin who takes an interest in the forum Matt? (More than his own blog that is?) You aren't going to keep the spammers out and nothing short of someone with admin delete/moderate abilities will solve the problem.

The poor management of the forum is reflected in the bigsports590.com web site as well, which looks like it was slapped together in about a 1/2 hour.

Hire someone to do the web stuff (site content, forum management, etc.) full time. If someone is ALREADY hired for that sort of job description, you might want to look into hiring someone new.

Also, quit worrying about what the "other" station in town is doing and focus on improving your product first.

Personally, I currently only listen to Jim Rome (have been for years) as far as that station goes. At least the station took a step in the right direction by discontinuing the simulcasting of TnT in the morning.

I think that a combination of local and national shows is good, but the local shows need to be improved. I can't put my finger on it exactly, but it just seems rough.

Brian, the answer is simple...dump Perrault and Justice and hire competent, talented sports talk show hosts who can carry a conversation AND allow for viewpoints opposing them to be heard.

Perrault is easily the WORST when it comes to the point-counterpoint game, and Justice just might be No. 2 (although Tom Becka has a rather annoying capability to snuff out opposing viewpoints).

@5:44 - Yeah...I was being kind, since I don't listen to either of them (Matt not very often, Justice not at all), but those would be logical next steps based on all that I've read and heard in various places.

Matt's true blue colors came to bear this week with his beloved Blue Jays. First defending the actions of their AD about the 2008 NCAA basketball ticket fiasco and then listening to him make excuses for the Creighton men losing. The misnomer "Sports talk without the spin" is a bunch of horse puckey. If either of these events had involved NU, Perrault would have been all over both events the EXACT opposite. If not for Creighton money pouring money into that station for CU basketball, there would be nothing!!!!

The ticket fiasco should not be that big of a fiasco. What the local media failed to mention in trying to create a story and spin the public up was, the majority of colleges and universities do this, not just Creighton. Most universities around the nation offer the tickets for regional games to season ticket holders first and whatever might be left over is sold to the general public. This is not just a Qwest/Creighton thing. I wish the media would have gone on to invesitgate this item further, rather than playing it up that it just happens here. The majority of NCAA schools do this. C'mon local media; go out and research the facts before starting a fire.

Matt is a complete idiot. All he had to do was change the registration options on the board to keep the spammers out. I think the real reason he pulled the plug is because he didn't like people criticizing him on it.
