Omaha World-Herald neighborhood news columnist Sibyl Myers died Monday of heart failure. She was 55.
Myers started working at the newspaper in 1975 on the same day as World-Herald Executive Editor Larry King.
"Over the next 30-plus years, I've seen her work as a full-time journalist, as a weekly columnist and as a publisher and businesswoman," King said in an article in Wednesday's editions. "Her integrity, her compassion and her love for Omaha and its people were clear in all she did."
Myers' funeral is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John AME Church, 2402 North 22nd Street.

It's really shocking when a healthy person passes away like this.
Sibyl was more than a friend. Although we never met face to face, she was a joy to work with and converse. Her Dreamland project was here dream come true and a way to give back to the community.
The board and Staff at Shorefront (Evanston, Illinois) will miss her friendship, partnership and energy
