KLMY, KLTQ Broadcasting Christmas Music

Christmas Music GraphicWaitt Radio Networks-owned KLTQ (101.9 FM) is the first Omaha radio station to begin broadcasting Christmas music around the clock.

Earlier this week, Clear Channel-owned KLMY (106.3 FM) became the first radio station in Lincoln this fall to broadcast Christmas songs.

Last year, KEFM (96.1 FM) attracted attention for playing Christmas music for two days in late September before switching to its current contemporary rock format of "The Brew" (KQBW). KLMY was also the first station last year to switch to a Christmas music format (in early November).

KLMY and three other stations in Lincoln (KIBZ, 104.1 FM; KZKX, 96.9 FM; KTGL, 92.9 FM) are among hundreds of Clear Channel stations up for sale following Thursday's announcement that the media conglomerate is being acquired by a private investment group for $18.7 billion.

If a tree falls in the forest and no one is there to hear it does it make a noise? It took several days before it was posted..That 2 stations are playing Xmas music..Maybe no one heard it

correction: The Brew's call letters are KQBW, not KFMQ (a radio station in New Mexico).

Christmas Music: Blech!

We could only be too lucky if Lite rock less talk 101.9 would be stunting with christmas music. I dont even mind the music that muchbut the slogan is so bland.

I find it entirely ridiculous that any radio station would play Christmas music before Thanksgiving is over. Is this really what listeners want?

>Is this really what listeners want?

It's apparently what they think will sell airtime.

I think of Christmas music as a easy way out for stations to grab a new auidence around Christmas. The AC stations that usually switch have such a tired playlist that Jingle Bells is quite refreshing.

What ever happned to Christian stations playing Christmas music. With thousands of Christian staions around the country I dont think that commerical stations should play christmas music.
