Cox Coverage of Huskers Rained Out

Because of rain, tonight's baseball game between Nebraska and Texas Tech will not air on Cox Channel 3 at 6:35 p.m. as originally scheduled. The game has been postponed, but Cox will not be airing it when it is rescheduled.

The Huskers' next scheduled televised game on Cox is on May 20 at 2 p.m. against Oklahoma.

What an odd TV package. First, they can't get it on the air. Then, no one can see it across the state. Now, when rain cancels the game, they can't do the next day's game? Is Cox in over their collective heads?

NETV would broadcast the game! Thanks again Smiley Pete!

I was told the reason Cox could not broadcast the game Saturday was because its mobile production truck was needed somewhere else that day.

There are a number of possible reasons why Cox "could not" do the game on Saturday. 1. Their mobile production unit may very well have been needed somewhere else the next day, 2. Saturday is a Big 12 blackout day in order to allow Fox or some other sports network to do a game nationally without competition, 3. Cox may not have had the arrangements in place with all of it's cable partners to air the game at a different time at such late notice, and 4. they may not have had a crew avaialble to them.

Reason #2, the blackout, was one of the reasons SP gave as to why he denied NET the rights. Although, I am not sure why NET wouldn't have just done either the Friday night, or Sunday afternoon game instead.
